Hovawart
Hovawart dog breeds originate from the Black Forest region of Bavaria in Germany. The name Hovawart means farmyard warden. Hovawart dogs were known to guard farms as far back as the 1200s.
Hovawart dogs are only seen in Britain since the mid 1970s and in America since the 1980s. Hovawart dog breeds were first recognized by the German Kennel Club in 1936.
Appearance of Hovawart dogs
Hovawart dogs are medium sized dogs with strong physique. The head of Hovawart dogs is fairly long with a broad skull and a gently tapering muzzle. The nose color of Hovawart dogs should match the coat of Hovawart dogs.
The eyes of Hovawart dogs are oval and have alert expression. The ears of Hovawart dogs are triangular and pendent. The neck of Hovawart dogs are medium length and carried on a moderately long body.
The legs of Hovawart dogs are strong and muscular. The tail of Hovawart dogs are long and bushy and carried high when on the move.
Coat of Hovawart dogs
Hovawart dogs coat is medium length but shorter on the face and front legs. The undercoat of Hovawart dogs are fine and light. The colors of Hovawart dogs are black and gold, blond, or just black.
