The origin of Kelpie dog breeds

Kelpie dogs are Australian dogs. Kelpie dogs appeared in the latter half of the 19th century. Kelpie dogs appeared when English collies were mated with local dog breeds. Kelpie dogs were first shown in 1908. Kelpie dogs are vastly used on the vast Australian sheep stations.

Appearance of Kelpie dogs

Kelpie dogs have tough and muscular appearance like sheepdogs with a fox like face. Kelpie dogs' head has a flat skull and slightly tapering muzzle.

Kelpie dogs' eyes are brown making Kelpie dogs look lively and intelligent.

Kelpie dogs' ears are large, wide at the base and held erect. Kelpie dogs have powerful neck and broad chest. Kelpie dogs also have strong legs of medium length and end in cat feet. Kelpie dogs have bushy tail which is usually carried low.

Kelpie dogs are 18-20 inches tall and weigh 25-45 lbs. Female Kelpie dogs are slightly shorter than male Kelpie dogs. Female Kelpie dogs are roughly 17-19 inches tall.
