Non Sporting Dog Group

Dogs belonging to the non sporting dog group are the opposite of sporting dogs. This dog breed is not too active and are often kept as pets by owners. Some of the dogs in the non sporting dog group are more active than others.

Non sporting dog group contains dog breeds that don't bear many similar characteristics to each other. Non sporting dogs vary greatly in size, shape, type, origin, and characteristics. Many non sporting dogs are dogs that don't fall under other categories of dog breeds. Some non sporting dogs should belong to other dog breeds groups but they are somehow in the non sporting dog group. For example, dalmatians are non sporting dogs but many dalmatians are used as working dogs and perhaps should be classified as working dogs instead of non sporting dogs.

Boston Terrier is a non sporting dog

Boston terriers are not really terriers despite their name. Boston terrier dogs once contained terrier blood but they are classified as non sporting dogs.

Non sporting dogs are popular as companion dogs

Many non sporting dogs in the non sporting dog group are good for companionship for owners. Among popular non sporting dogs are poodles, bichon frise, dalmatians, Chinese shar pei, and bulldogs. Many dogs in the non sporting dogs group are alert, lively and friendly, hence they are good for companionship.
