Some of the dogs in the non sporting dog group are more active than others. Non sporting dog group contains dog breeds that don't bear many similar characteristics to each other. Non sporting dogs vary greatly in size, shape, type, origin, and characteristics. Many non sporting dogs are dogs that don't fall under other categories of dog breeds. Some non sporting dogs should belong to other dog breeds groups but they are somehow in the non sporting dog group. For example, dalmatians are non sporting dogs but many dalmatians are used as working dogs and perhaps should be classified as working dogs instead of non sporting dogs.

      The exact origins of the Newfoundland dogs are obscure but it is suspected that Newfoundland dog breeds were developed from a type of dogs that were brought by nomadic peoples into the northern polar regions and not actually from Newfoundland itself.

  • Shiba Inu
    The Shiba Inu dog breed is the smallest and oldest of Japan's dogs. The Shiba Inu dog breed is originally developed for hunting in the dense undergrowth of Japan's mountainous areas.

  • George Stubbs
    George Stubbs lived between 1724 - 1806. George Stubbs was better known for his excellent portrayals of horses, also painted dogs.
